Global airline catering services provider gategroup has signed a catering contract with Air Canada that extends the existing partnership between the companies for another three more years.

Under the agreement, gategroup’s subsidiary Gate Gourmet will continue to work with Air Canada offering catering services to its customers.

gategroup CEO Xavier Rossinyol said: “Canada is an important market of our North America Region and gategroup is proud to remain a strategic partner to Air Canada and to support the airline through its future growth plans.”

“We carried a record 48 million customers last year and as our growth continues we are excited to extend our partnership with gategroup.”

Gate Gourmet Canada currently offers catering and provisioning services including on-trend menu design, hub operational support, meal ordering, retail on-board managed services and culinary consistency for the Canadian airline industry.

Air Canada product vice-president Andrew Yiu said: “We carried a record 48 million customers last year and added 30 new routes, and as our growth continues we are excited to extend our partnership with gategroup so that we can continue to innovate and offer customers a superior onboard experience.”

Last month, gategroup signed an exclusive agreement with Turkish-based holiday airline SunExpress for in-flight catering and provisioning services.
