US e-commerce major Amazon is planning to enter India’s food delivery market, which is largely dominated by Swiggy and Zomato.

The company plans to launch food delivery services next month.

The move into food delivery business is part of the e-commerce company’s larger plans to develop a comprehensive portfolio, delivering products from all categories, including food, groceries, electronics and home decor.

Currently, Amazon is conducting service trials at selected locations in the city of Bangalore. The pilot is being carried out at HSR, Bellandur, Haralur, Marathahalli and Whitefield localities of the city.

Prione Business Services, a joint venture of Catamaran Ventures and Amazon India, has started signing contracts with brands to enable their listing.
