Azzurri Group, owner of the ASK Italian, Zizzi, Coco di Mama and Radio Alice brands, has acquired Pod Foods after the healthy fast-food restaurant chain fell into administration.
On 21 June, the chain appointed Damian Webb and Allan Kelly of RSM Restructuring Advisory to serve as administrators.
RSM Restructuring facilitated the sale on behalf of the Pod Foods as part of a pre-pack administration.
The Pod brand was established in 2005. The deal will see 13 Pod restaurants continuing to operate while nine units have been closed.
Webb said: “The sale of Pod Foods secures over 170 jobs and ensures the on-going trading of the core Pod business.
“Regrettably, this process has led to the closure of nine stores, resulting in 90 redundancies. We will be working closely with the redundancy payments service to assist these employees.”
