Bangladesh Airlines’ Biman Flight Catering Centre (BFCC) has signed a catering agreement with national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.

Under the contract, the company will provide in-flight catering services on the Turkish Airlines flight.

BFCC is located adjacent to the North Terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The catering unit offers services to international and domestic schedule airlines, private aviation, UN flights and VIP aircraft.

It is also Bangladesh’s only international standard in-flight catering centre credited with ISO 9001-2015 and ISO 22000-2005.

The Turkish carrier operates Airbus 333 aircraft to and from Dhaka. The flight has a passenger capacity of 24 in Business Class and 264-270 in Economy class.

This agreement is expected to offer financial success to Biman Flight Catering Centre.

BFCC intends to generate BDT90m-100m ($1.04m-$1.15m) annually, with an aim to increase its food quality standards. The catering centre has chosen an Italian chef and is seeking to introduce new menus on the Turkish flight.

In a statement, BFCC said: “Maintaining international standards, food preparation and well-maintained safe food system is the key to success of the organisation.”

“The company maintains its business reputation and has been very successful at arriving at Shahjalal International Airport and at Dushanbe with domestic and foreign airlines, providing drinks and services.”

In May, Turkish Airlines awarded a 15-year contract to Austria-based firm DO & CO to offer catering services.
