Canada-based full-service restaurant company Recipe Unlimited has reported a malware outbreak in some restaurant brands across its network.
The affected restaurant brands include Swiss Chalet, Harvey’s, Milestones, Kelseys, Montana’s, Bier Markt, East Side Mario’s, The Landing Group of Restaurants and Prime Pubs.
According to the company, the breach was detected on 28 September of this year, which led to a number of systems taken offline including the suspension of internet access to affected locations as a precaution. Recipe Unlimited has also taken measures to prevent any further damage.
The company noted that this move has caused some of its restaurants to experience some service delay related issues such as problems in processing credit and debit card transactions.
It is also working with third-party security experts and internal teams to resolve the situation.
In a move to avoid inconvenience to guests due to service issues, the restaurant chain has also closed a smaller number of affected restaurants for a period of time.
