US-based fast-casual seafood restaurant chain Captain D’s has opened its latest corporate-owned location in New Iberia, Louisiana.

Situated at 1120 E. Admiral Doyle Drive, this is the firm’s fifth corporate location to open since 2017.

With more 530 outlets in 22 states, the Tennessee-based firm offers grilled items such as shrimp, tilapia and salmon, as well as hushpuppies, desserts and freshly brewed, southern-style sweet tea at its restaurants.

The New Iberia location also debuts Captain D’s new restaurant prototype, which has a smaller footprint than its traditional outlets.

The new design is intended to streamline operations and make further use of vertical space in the restaurant’s kitchen, which helps reduce costs for franchisees and enables quicker development.

“We are committed to constantly investing in the Captain D’s brand and showing our franchisees that we offer their business an unparalleled level of support.”

The prototype also includes a customer service area that aims to decrease congestion and enhance the guest experience.

In the last several years, Captain D’s has been launching new restaurant prototypes, which gives franchisees not only flexibility but also a wide range of options to cater to the different requirements of their individual markets.

Captain D’s chief development office Brad Reed said: “We are committed to constantly investing in the Captain D’s brand and showing our franchisees that we offer their business an unparalleled level of support. In addition to our ongoing corporate growth, we have always prioritised allocating company capital towards developing new innovations that help operators save money and improve efficiency.

“The new prototype unveiled at the opening of our corporate restaurant in New Iberia is a direct reflection of how Captain D’s goes above and beyond to ensure our franchisees are positioned for success.”

In the past year, the restaurant firm has opened more than ten new locations and signed several franchise development agreements to open outlets in Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, Michigan and Oklahoma.

The company also stated that almost 80% of its restaurants have been reimaged to the brand’s new vibrant, coastal design to provide a welcoming atmosphere for customers, along with quality seafood at an affordable price.

According to Captain D, the firm has witnessed an increase in franchise growth, spurred partly by the introduction of a new royalty incentive programme earlier this year and ongoing menu innovation.
