American franchisee company Carrols Restaurant Group has closed the acquisition of 13 Burger King fast food restaurants in Baltimore, Maryland, US.

The company is one of the largest Burger King franchisees in the US.

Currently, it operates a total of 1,078 restaurants across the country including 1,023 Burger King restaurants. The company also operates 55 Popeyes restaurants.

Carrols Restaurant Group CEO Daniel T Accordino said: “We are pleased to complete this transaction which adds to our existing presence in the attractive mid-Atlantic region.

“These restaurants have average sales volumes of over $1.8m, higher than our system average, and should be highly accretive as we integrate them with our existing operations.”

Last month, the restaurant franchisee company closed the acquisition of 165 Burger King and 55 Popeyes restaurants from Cambridge Franchise Holdings for $238m.

In February, Carrols signed a definitive agreement and plan of merger with Cambridge Franchise Holdings to purchase 166 Burger King and 55 Popeyes restaurants in ten states for a value of $238m.

As part of the transaction, Cambridge will receive around 7.36 million shares of Carrols common stock and will own up to 16.6% of Carrols’ outstanding common shares at closing.

The company also signed an area development and remodelling agreement with Burger King Corporation (BKC), which pre-approved the company for continued growth via both acquisitions and restaurant development.
