Cousins Maine Lobster (CML) has announced that veteran franchisees and brothers, Yunus and Thameem Shahul, are spearheading the growth of the company in the South Florida markets of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Florida Keys.

Since the start of their franchising with the company in 2018, the Shahuls have launched in seven markets, focusing on developing robust food truck teams.

The brothers are set to relaunch the first of the new South Florida food trucks on 15 June – their 14th CML truck.

Yunus Shahul expressed excitement about the grand reopening, inviting locals to “experience the taste that made us famous all over again,” with offerings such as Maine lobster rolls, lobster tacos and tots.

Commenting on the expansion, CML co-founder Jim Tselikis said, “Yunus and Thameem are investing in long-term growth for South Florida, leveraging their best leaders to hire, train and develop great local operations teams. They are fabricating all new food trucks and are building new partnerships throughout the region. We are excited to partner with one of our top franchisees to ignite this growth.”

CML has food trucks and restaurants across the US and is seeking new franchise partners for Southwest Florida.

In June 2024 the company stated that it is preparing for its tenth new unit opening of the year with a launch in upstate New York.

The venture is led by franchisees Cindy and Pete Sztankovits, who have expanded their operation to six food trucks over five years.

The Sztankovits’ food trucks serve Trenton in New Jersey, Scranton in Philadelphia, Harrisburg in Pennsylvania, and the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse markets in New York.

Grand opening events will be held from 14 to 16 June 2024 for the Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse markets.
