Distributor Cuisine Solutions has invested $120m to establish a new manufacturing plant at Brooks mixed-use development property in San Antonio, US.
The investment is expected to generate more than 500 jobs in the region over the next four years.
Cuisine Solutions will commence construction of the 290,000ft² facility in March and expects to open it by mid-2020.
Cuisine Solutions chairman and CEO Stanislas Vilgrain was quoted by therivardreport.com as saying: “Brooks is the ideal location for us to establish our presence west of the Mississippi River.
“San Antonio has an industrious and enthusiastic workforce that we’ll tap into to help support our growth and meet the increasing demand for our restaurant-quality products.”
The new project will be Brook’s sixth production facility, joining plants in countries such as France and Thailand, as well as the US states of Virginia and Pennsylvania.
In addition, Cuisine Solutions is planning to install new technologies at the production plant to meet the demand for its sous vide products.
San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg was quoted by the news agency as saying: “Our community’s growth momentum continues with 500 new manufacturing jobs for our city’s Southside.
“Cuisine Solutions’ selection of San Antonio for its fourth US production facility reflects our community’s commitment to being a business-friendly city, prepared to meet the workforce needs of rapidly growing, international corporations.”
