American restaurant chain Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has signed a franchise agreement to open multiple stores in the Calgary area of Alberta, Canada.
The company has signed a multi-unit agreement with local restaurant franchisor Gaurang Modh. The first store will be opened in Taber.
Dickey’s Barbecue also plans to introduce Dickey’s Legit Texas Barbecue at the new locations.
Dickey’s international development executive vice-president Jim Perkins said: “I’m very happy for Dickeys to continue growing throughout Canada and to have formed this partnership with Mr Modh.
“We’re looking forward to working alongside this team and bringing a tried and true Texas barbecue to the great folks of Alberta.”
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has been boosting its international market presence with recent expansions into Mexico and the UK. It already has outlets in Botswana, Brazil, Egypt, Japan, Pakistan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.

Situated at 630 Creek Centre Drive, Suite A and B Baton Rouge, the Baton Rouge location serves pit-smoked meats accompanied by a choice of 12 traditional sides.
Dallas-based Dickey’s Barbecue, which is part of Dickey’s Restaurant Brands, has seen substantial growth at home and overseas, and now has more than 500 locations in the US.
