DoorDash is set to introduce an AI-powered pizza ordering feature to turn complex menus into a guided, visual selection process.
The rollout comes as restaurant operators prepare for a spike in demand on Pi Day on 14 March.

The new system is designed to automatically scan a merchant’s store page, detect pizza items and reorganise them into a more structured, image-based flow that is intended to be easier to use than traditional list-style menus.
DoorDash added that the AI can adapt each restaurant’s existing menu structure. It can pick up on details such as gluten-free bases, non-standard pizza shapes, and half-and-half topping layouts, before presenting these options through a streamlined interface.
Toppings are also displayed visually, with clear half-and-half choices so customers can browse and select their favourite combinations.
The system keeps selected toppings in place even if customers change the crust or pizza size mid-order, a feature intended to cut down on repeated entries and lower the risk of unfinished orders.

By GlobalDataDoorDash is initially making the AI-enabled pizza experience available to a group of selected merchants.
Pizza is the first cuisine to use this menu transformation approach, with plans to extend the technology to other food types over time.
DoorDash merchant product head Brian Tolkin said: “We built this experience so customers can create the exact type of pizza they’re craving in a way that feels effortless.
“When ordering is intuitive, customers explore more of the menu, which can create growth opportunities for merchants.”
In December 2025, DoorDash launched Zesty, an app that uses AI to help users identify local restaurants and share recommendations.
