Quick-service restaurant group Encinal Brands plans to open 150 restaurants across the US in the next five years.

Currently, the company operates 40 restaurants in four US states.

It plans to expand using a franchise model.

Encinal Brands CEO and founder Ivan Flores said due to special pricing and opportunities for franchisees and multi-unit owners, the restaurant chain has been able to launch new outlets in Arizona, Nevada and Texas.

It operates through three brands, namely Blue Burro, The Buffalo Spot and Tacomasa.

Flores added: “As we continue growing, we are offering potential franchisees an exciting opportunity with our distinctive approach to Mexican food.

“With traditional family recipes blended with modern menu items, such as our World-Famous Buffalo Fries and premium shakes, we are disrupting the industry and offering potential owners a blueprint for success.”

In the Southwest US, Encinal Brands opened new locations that include a Blue Burro restaurant in Gilbert, Arizona, and The Buffalo Spot locations in San Antonio and Arlington, Texas.

The company will soon open a Tacomasa restaurant in Cypress, California.

For multi-unit owners, Encinal provides help with site selection, buildout, initial training and marketing, as well as offering ongoing support.

Flores added: “We’re constantly working to offer our guests an experience that no one else can. For example, at The Buffalo Spot, it’s our World-Famous Buffalo Fries, which we will be celebrating in a big way on National French Fry Day on July 13. Although Americans eat an average of 30 pounds of French fries per year, our World-Famous Buffalo Fries originated here and have made The Buffalo Spot a destination. Next, we are planning to add Shrimp Buffalo Fries, and we believe this will be just as popular with customers.”

Blue Burro restaurants offer breakfast burritos stuffed with ham, bacon or steak; Surf-N-Turf Burritos, the Campechana Burrito; fries or chips along with marinated chicken, pork or steak; and premium milkshakes, such as the beloved Blue Horchata and Dulce de Leche.

Tacomasa offers Tacos, Mulitas, Tortas, Quesadillas and Fries. It introduced a Pollo Asado Sandwich two months ago as a limited offering but, following requests from customers, later made it a permanent part of the menu.

Flores added: “Overall, we like to keep our menus simple. But we also like to offer our guests new, bold flavours that they haven’t experienced anywhere else.”
