ESS Defence, Marine and Aerospace, a part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has secured a staff catering and hospitality contract from Port of Felixstowe in the UK.

Under the six-year contract, ESS will provide food services to the port’s 2,500 employees, hauliers and other port users.

It will also be responsible for refurbishing the dining facilities and deploying new technology to meet the demands of the location.

The company will redesign the two catering outlets on site to give the location a contemporary look and feel.

ESS food offerings include high street style concepts, an array of healthy options, hospitality and vending.

It will also provide a click-and-collect service through ESS App.

As part of its sustainability efforts, ESS will use locally sourced ingredients, eliminate single-use plastics and introduce an electric support vehicle.

ESS Defence, Marine and Aerospace managing director Bob Gray said: “We’re excited to be working with the Port of Felixstowe to enhance the catering provision for its employees and tenants.

“Our team has been busy drawing up plans for an extensive refurbishment project, which will commence shortly after the contract goes live. This will deliver attractive restaurant spaces coupled with appetising food offers to ensure customers can enjoy their breaks.”

Last month, the energy, government and infrastructure sector of ESS was awarded a five-year catering contract by Bedfordshire Police.

According to the contract, ESS will be responsible for providing catering and hospitality services to sites in Bedford and Luton.
