Restaurant franchising company FAT Brands has purchased US-based chain Yalla Mediterranean for an undisclosed amount.

The deal expands FAT Brands’ portfolio, which currently includes Fatburger, Buffalo’s Cafe, Buffalo’s Express, Hurricane Grill & Wings, and Ponderosa and Bonanza Steakhouses.

Established in 2014, Yalla Mediterranean offers a range of menu items including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free diets. It also offers on-tap selections of craft beers and fine wines.

The restaurant chain currently operates seven locations in Pleasant Hill, Fremont, Walnut Creek, Dublin, Bay Area, Burbank, Seal Beach and Culver City across California.

“We’ll be able to help the brand grow its footprint in its existing markets and expand to new markets.”

FAT Brands president and CEO Andy Wiederhorn said: “Yalla Mediterranean’s commitment to authentic, healthy and responsibly-sourced products aligns strongly with FAT Brands’ commitment to providing guests with high-quality, made-to-order meals.

“By bringing Yalla Mediterranean into the FAT Brands family, we’ll be able to help the brand grow its footprint in its existing markets and expand to new markets through our extensive network of franchise partners.”
