Airline catering services provider Gate Gourmet has extended its contract with Swiss International Air Lines until 2022.

The catering contract complements the current partnership between both companies to offer services at the airline and Gate Gourmet’s home base at Kloten Airport in Zurich.

As part of their previous partnership, the companies introduced SWISS Taste of Switzerland concept, where chefs create seasonal dishes from various regions across the country for first and business class guests with menus changing every three months.

With Gate Gourmet and SWISS working closely together the ‘International Travel Catering Association’ has awarded the SWISS Taste of Switzerland concept its Mercury Award.

“We are very proud of our long-term relationship with the national carrier of our home country and we are delighted they have put their trust in us until 2022.”

Under the latest contract, the catering firm will operate from both Zurich and Geneva to design and develop a range of meals to serve customers across the airline’s first, business and economy classes on more than 100 international routes from Switzerland.

Gategroup CEO Xavier Rossinyol said: “We are very proud of our long-term relationship with the national carrier of our home country and we are delighted they have put their trust in us until 2022.

“Delivering a top-quality product across all classes, consistently, and showcasing the work of the country’s talented chefs enables us to maintain Swiss’ reputation for delivering a top-notch customer experience.”

In addition, Gate Gourmet has plans to continue investing in resources and people to enhance services offered across all areas of the airlines’ in-flight catering.

Last month, the airline catering services provider extended its contract with US-based Delta Air Lines for an additional five years to serve as the exclusive service partner for 45 locations globally.
