Greene King Pub Partners, a leased, tenanted and franchise operations division of Greene King, is set to unveil its latest franchise pub concept, Nest Pubs, in the UK.

The concept comes on the heels of the success of Hive Pubs, Greene King’s inaugural franchise pub model.

It has seen growth to 46 locations since its inception in 2021. Nest Pubs will complement the ongoing expansion of Hive Pubs.

The concept will work in wet-led establishments [those focussing on drinks rather than food offerings], to be located on high streets and within community settings.

It will focus on providing consistent sports and entertainment for pub-goers.

It will serve customers a broad range of beverages, including beers, ales, wines, spirits, and low or non-alcoholic options, complemented by pizza as the primary food offering.

A distinctive feature of Nest Pubs will be their sports broadcasting, with each having subscriptions to Sky Sports and TNT Sport.

Sports programming will be the central aspect of the franchise’s appeal.

A regular schedule of entertainment, from pub quizzes to live music and karaoke, will also be part of the experience.

Each Nest Pub will have a unique identity, with significant investment earmarked for refurbishments.

With a more modest food service compared to Hive Pubs, Nest Pubs are anticipated to operate with a smaller team, making the franchise a cost-effective entry point into the pub industry.

Greene King Pub Partners managing director Dan Robinson said: “We are delighted to continue the growth and success of our franchise offer with the development of Nest Pubs.

“The first Nest Pub will open later this year with more following behind it. Alongside this, we’ll continue to grow our successful Hive Pubs franchise concept with more openings.

“Our overwhelming focus as a business remains in the leased and tenanted space, but we are excited to continue the growth of our franchise pub business through Nest Pubs.”

Franchisees of Nest Pubs will benefit financially from a share of food and drink sales, a portion of their pub’s profit and performance-based bonuses, particularly in areas such as operational excellence.

Greene King Pub Partners is gearing up to launch the first Nest Pub in spring 2024, with ambitions to roll out additional sites throughout the year.

In June 2023, Greene King Pub Partners secured accreditation by and membership of the British Franchise Association, an independent self-regulatory body that ensures the integrity and credibility of the franchising sector.
