Tech-enabled multi-brand fast-casual restaurant platforms Hungry House and MegaBite have agreed to merge their business to create a new entity named BiteLabs.

The move is anticipated to bolster the presence of their chef-inspired, digital-forward brands across the US, Mexico and Peru, leveraging a combined network of 13 locations.

Founded in 2021, US-based Hungry House collaborates with chefs to create signature dishes, available through delivery and collection at its Manhattan and Brooklyn venues.

MegaBite focuses on introducing chef-backed virtual brands in Mexico and Peru, which can be accessed via delivery channels and its proprietary app.

With a combined annual revenue exceeding $6m, the merged entity will focus on in-store retail, first-party delivery and third-party delivery partnerships with platforms such as Uber Eats, GrubHub and DoorDash, as well as Rappi in Latin America.

MegaBite and BiteLabs CEO Pedro Neira said: “We believe that Hungry House and MegaBite, operating together, have the potential to be the most innovative, tech-enabled, multi-brand fast-casual restaurant group across the Americas.

“We’ll continue to bring our vision of chef-backed fast-casual restaurants with a dynamic in-store experience and a robust native app to diverse audiences passionate about great food.

“This will uplift choice for the consumer with groundbreaking, high-quality culinary brands developed in partnership with today’s most exciting chefs and provide a range of consumer choices facilitated by algorithmically personalised options.”

The two companies will continue their operations as vertically integrated entities under the BiteLabs brand.

Neira stated: “We will aim not only to significantly increase our revenue performance, but also work toward world-class unit economics across our soon-to-be 15 locations in a retail-forward model, collaborate with our inspiring chef partners, and delight our curious diners from the US to Latin America.”
