Global marketplace for online food delivery Just Eat has reported a revenue of £177.4m in the first quarter ending 31 March 2018, a 49% surge compared to the previous year.
The increase in revenue is due to the company’s “strong” order growth and a greater proportion of higher value delivery orders.
The food delivery company also reported a 32% increase in group orders of £51.6m, including a 24% increase in UK orders to £29.7m and a 46% increase in international orders to £21.9m.
The growth in international orders was driven by a triple digit order growth in Canada and strong performances in Italy and Spain, partly offset by softness in Australia.
Just Eat acquired Hungryhouse on 31 January this year, which contributed to 1.4 million orders in this quarter.
Just Eat CEO Peter Plumb said: “Just Eat has had a strong start to the year. We delivered our 400 millionth order in the UK, grew well in Italy and Spain, whilst powering continued momentum in our Canadian delivery service SkipTheDishes.
