Global fast casual chain KFC has expanded its menu offerings with the launch of a double crispy colonel sandwich.

The double crispy colonel sandwich is made with two hand battered chicken fillets, mayonnaise and pickles sandwiched between two buns.

The company is also launching its double crispy colonel sandwich in three flavours such as smoky mountain BBQ, spicy, smoky Nashville hot and sweet and tangy Georgia gold honey mustard BBQ.

The double crispy colonel is currently available for customers in KFC restaurants across the US directly or in a combo meal with wedges and a drink.

“Burger places have been selling double burgers for years, but nobody has really had a chicken sandwich like this worthy of doubling up on.”

KFC has partnered with World’s Strongest Man celebrity Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson to celebrate the launch through a promotional event.

Björnsson said: “We launched the crispy colonel sandwich a few months ago and we believe it is the best chicken sandwich in the market.

“Burger places have been selling double burgers for years, but nobody has really had a chicken sandwich like this worthy of doubling up on, so we decided to change the extra crispy fried chicken game by creating the double crispy colonel. You’re going to need both hands for this one.”

KFC currently operates 21,000 restaurants in around 130 countries and territories around the world.

The fast food chain offers a range of menu choices featuring original recipe and extra crispy chicken, Kentucky grilled chicken and extra crispy tenders, hot wings, go cups, KFC Famous bowls, pot pies, hand prepared chicken sandwiches, biscuits and homestyle side items.
