American fast food restaurant chain KFC is set to launch a new meal called Chizza for the first time in the US.

The Chizza features two 100% white meat fried chicken fillets topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.

The Chizza was launched in the Philippines in 2015 and has since been rolled out in Germany, Korea, India, Mexico, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand.

To mark the launch of the new meal, KFC will transform its outlet at 242 E 14th Street in New York City into a “Chizzeria” pop-up.

The event will offer customers the chance to sample the Chizza for free before its nationwide release.

The pop-up will open on 23 February 2024 for a limited period.

The Chizza will be available across all KFC locations in the US from 26 February 2024.

The Chizza can also be ordered via the KFC app, allowing customers to skip queues by picking up their orders from a dedicated quick pick-up shelf.

KFC is also bringing back its Blackberry Lemonade for a limited time.

The fruity, tart beverage is recommended as a complement to the Chizza combo meal.

KFC US CMO Nick Chavez said: “Fried chicken and pizza collaborated to create something even better – the Chizza. The fan-favourite mashup is finally available in the US after making its way around the world – try it while you can!” 

This month, KFC launched a new scheme called KFC Rewards to provide US customers with points for every purchase they make via its app or website.

The initiative allowed customers to accumulate points that can be exchanged for complimentary menu items from KFC’s Secret Recipe Vault.

Customers participating in the KFC Rewards programme earned ten points for every eligible dollar spent.
