Kitchen Brains has launched a scheduled handwash reminder and timer solution to support foodservice operators, food processing plants, healthcare facilities, labs, pharmacies and other businesses amid Covid-19.

Called Scrub Buddy, the solution alerts up to eight employees to wash their hands every 30 minutes or at a preferred interval.

It also times each handwash for 20 seconds as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and automatically resets the next reminder at a gap of 30 minutes.

Employees will receive audio and visual alerts displayed on Scrub Buddy’s LCD screen.

Kitchen Brains CEO Christian Koether said: “I am extremely proud of our amazing Kitchen Brains team for taking Scrub Buddy from concept to finished product in a matter of weeks.

“Covid-19 has changed the way many of our customers do business and we are pleased to be able to offer Scrub Buddy to them so they can effectively meet the new handwashing standards. For employees and customers alike, Scrub Buddy provides a level of comfort and safety that is so important in today’s environment.”

Scrub Buddy runs on four AA batteries and requires no installation. Restaurants, food processing units and other business where the employees require frequent handwash can mount it with its magnetic backing to most metal surfaces or fix it using the optional bracket.

Kitchen Brains is manufacturing Scrub Buddy at its factory in Stratford, Connecticut, US, and it is currently available for purchase from Kitchen Brains’ dealers.
