Hospitality company LSG Sky Chefs has partnered with German appliances and equipment manufacturer Miele and start-up MChef to offer gourmet food for its airline, train and lounge customers.
The partnership will focus on exploiting new potential in the airline, train and lounge catering segment with cooking appliance Dialog Oven. The ready-to-cook gourmet meals from MChef are designed specifically to cook in the Dialog Oven.
Manufactured by Miele, Dialog Oven can be configured using MChef’s app to heat different components of a pre-produced gourmet meal at individual temperatures.
LSG Group Europe commercials and speaker head Lars Redeligx said: “This cooperation with MChef is particularly important to us because they have developed completely new offers for the premium segment, and we can now offer these high-quality meals exclusively.”
The parties have already carried out a successful test phase for several weeks in the Lufthansa First Class Lounge at Munich Airport.
According to LSG Sky Chefs, MChef will benefit from its production development expertise, logistics, recipes and ingredient selection, while LSG will gain knowledge on new packaging technologies as well as extending the shelf life of meals.
MChef founder and CEO Martin Eilerts said: “By using the Miele Dialog Oven in these market segments, we gain meaningful feedback from a particularly demanding target group. This will contribute to further refining and optimising our products.”
Headquartered in Neu-Isenburg, Germany, the LSG Group operates various brands such as LSG Sky Chefs in the catering and hospitality domain, Retail inMotion for onboard retail services, Spiriant for onboard equipment services and Evertaste for convenience food.
