NCR Voyix has launched a new payment solution, Aloha Pay-At-Table, powered by sunday to streamline the dining experience by enabling guests to pay their bills using smartphones.
Based in Atlanta, sunday is a tech company that allows diners to use their smartphones to scan a tabletop QR code to look at their itemised bill, divide the costs, pay and leave a tip within 10 seconds.
Launched in 2021, the software was initially rolled out across 23 European locations during the Covid-19 pandemic, allowing customers to use QR codes and adhere to safety protocols.
This initial deployment saw an increase in both the number of restaurant guests and the average order size.
The platform is aiding 2,000 restaurants globally, impacting approximately 50 million guests each year.
sunday’s integration with Aloha POS by NCR Voyix enables Aloha Pay-At-Table to ensure a reduction in the time guests spend waiting and paying for their meals, thereby enhancing overall efficiency for guests, restaurant staff and owners.

By GlobalDataNCR Voyix executive vice-president and restaurants president Benny Tadele said: “In an industry known for its razor-thin margins, our Aloha Pay-At-Table by NCR Voyix technology enables restaurants to operate more efficiently.
“By serving guests faster, encouraging higher spending and turning tables swiftly, it’s a game-changer for business-minded operators.”
The benefits of Aloha Pay-At-Table extend beyond time savings. Servers have seen a 10% increase in tips due to the system’s automatic, precalculated tip suggestions.
The efficiency gained by eliminating the need for servers to make multiple trips for payment processing saves an average of 15 minutes per table.
After payment, guests are also prompted to review their experience regarding food, service, ambience and value for money on Google, contributing to an improved guest experience and valuable feedback for the restaurant.
sunday co-founder and US CEO Christine de Wendel said: “We are providing a better overall experience for everyone involved, whether it’s a restaurant guest, server or restaurant operator.
“Guests can pay and leave at their convenience, waitstaff have more time for personalised service, and managers or owners gain valuable data insights, such as which servers perform best and what experiences are stellar or need improving.”
