South Korea-based café and bakery chain Paris Baguette is poised to boost its presence in the US with a new outlet in Ashburn, Virginia, on 24 April.

This new venue marks the brand’s sixth venture in the state.

Franchisees Joe and Yulia Kook, a husband and wife team, will operate the Ashburn location, their first with Paris Baguette.

The opening of the Ashburn café is considered to be a milestone in Paris Baguette’s growth plan.

Joe Kook said: “We’re really excited for the local [Brambleton] community to get to experience Paris Baguette. We really want to cater to them. Our primary goal is to really reach out to the local people. From there, we look forward to opening a second bakery café in Gainesville.”

Yulia Kook said: “There are people stopping by the location daily asking when we’re opening. We are the first retail concept in the plaza and the first bakery café of our kind in the county, so we’re very excited.”

Paris Baguette chief development officer Eric Lavinder said: “We’re on a mission to revive the concept of the neighbourhood bakery café across the US, and we’re excited to see Joe and Yulia take this on in their own community.

“One of the sayings our teams throughout the system embody is, ‘Happy to see you. Even happier to serve you.’ And we know Joe and Yulia will wholeheartedly embrace this approach in their neighbourhood.”

Paris Baguette said it is constantly looking to form alliances with regional entrepreneurs as part of its goal to achieve 1,000 outlets nationwide.

The company outlined targets for the current year, aiming to open 100 new bakery cafés and to award franchises for an additional 150 locations.

The company’s expansion strategy includes foraying into states such as Texas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio, and Kentucky.

The brand bolstered its US presence last November when it entered a one-unit franchise agreement with entrepreneur Farooq Siddiqui in Leesburg, Virginia.
