Fast-casual restaurant and caterer QDOBA Mexican Eats has signed an agreement with multi-unit operator Burgess Enterprise to open five new restaurants in Ontario, Canada.

As part of the deal, the franchisee will focus on Northern Ontario to open the five locations.

The first of the five planned locations will be opened in Sault Ste Marie next year.

Each of these locations will offer a range of menu choices, including the three-cheese queso and hand-smashed guac, and other items made using flame-grilled adobo steak and adobo chicken.

Burgess Enterprise CEO Craig Burgess said: “As co-founder and operator of the Ontario-based Wacky Wings concept, I understand the value in providing an elevated dining experience.

“When we looked to grow our portfolio with another restaurant, we were immediately impressed with QDOBA, everything from the delicious food to the experienced leadership team. We’re excited to bring the QDOBA brand to fans across Northern Ontario.”

In addition, the franchisee company plans to open multiple QDOBA locations over the next few years in Sudbury, Timmins, North Bay and Thunder Bay.

QDOBA CEO Keith Guilbault said: “In Wacky Wings, Burgess Enterprise has done an incredible job creating and incubating a crowd-pleasing restaurant brand from scratch.

“Canada is a growing market for us, and we’re excited to have Craig and his team on board, bringing the QDOBA brand to even more area guests.”

In July, QDOBA Mexican Eats signed a partnership with franchisee Premier Queso Kings to open 20 new locations in the US.

Operating more than 750 restaurants across the US and Canada, QDOBA Mexican Eats offers a range of menu items such as burritos, tacos, burrito bowls, salads, quesadillas, nachos and tortilla soup.
