UK catering firm Searcys has been appointed official caterers at The Alnwick Garden and The Treehouse, which serve as visitor attractions set up by the Duchess of Northumberland.
Searcys was founded more than 170 years ago by Duke of Northumberland’s pastry chef John Searcy. After having worked as a pastry chef at Alnwick Castle with the duke’s family for a decade, John Searcy wanted to begin his own business so that others too could enjoy his confections. The then-Duke and Duchess of Northumberland helped him set up the business with a loan.
On partnering with Searcys at The Alnwick Garden, the Duchess of Northumberland Isobel Jane Miller Percy was quoted by Press Association as saying: “They have a world-renowned reputation for quality, sustainability, and innovation, using locally sourced produce to create a delightful food and beverage offering that fits our vision of The Alnwick Garden and The Treehouse.”
The Alnwick Garden CEO Mark Brassell was quoted by Northumberland Gazette as saying: “We have become one of the busiest visitor attractions in the UK and it is now time to take our hospitality to the next level, whilst retaining high-quality, good value, locally-sourced produce where possible.”
Among the several clients of Searcys include The Orangery at Blenheim Palace, Design Museum in Kensington, and the restaurants and bars at Gherkin and St Pancras International.
Searcys managing director Matt Thomas was quoted by Belfast Telegraph as saying: “We will continue to support the values important to this landmark British location and first home of Searcys.”
