Global foodservice and facilities management company Sodexo has secured a ten-year catering contract from Coventry University to supply catering and hospitality services.
The contract will be effective from September this year and is valued at £6m per annum.
Under the contract, Sodexo will be responsible for offering catering, food retail and hospitality services on the university’s campuses in Coventry, London and Scarborough.
The contract also includes food delivery services to almost 30,000 students and 5,000 university employees.
The foodservice contractor will invest in new facilities and digital services across 17 catering outlets across the university.
The company will also introduce new food offers and brands such as a coffee bar, a vegan street food establishment and a permanent food truck.
Coventry University catering and retail assistant director Michael Ricketts said: “We are always looking to improve the experience for our students and staff so we are delighted to appoint Sodexo as our catering and hospitality providers.
“Good food plays an important role in our health and wellbeing as well as in the social fabric of our university.
“We were very pleased to discover that Sodexo shared our focus around sustainability, social values and community engagement. We are looking forward to welcoming them onto our campuses.”
Furthermore, Sodexo is working with local food suppliers and social enterprises to source local produce.
The company will also launch an app enabling students and staff to place food and drink orders.
