US-based drive-in restaurant chain Sonic has expanded its menu with the launch of new fritos chilli cheese options available for a limited time.

The fritos chilli cheese menu features three variants: chilli pie, the chilli cheese Jr. wrap and chilli cheese Jr. burger.

Fritos chilli pie is a blend of fritos, chilli and cheddar cheese. The chilli cheese Jr. wrap features fritos, chilli and cheddar cheese in an 8-inch flour tortilla.

The chilli cheese Jr. burger contains fritos, chilli, cheddar cheese, and a beef patty served in a bun.

“Adding the uniquely delicious and salty bite of fritos, chilli and cheese was something many had to hack menus to get.”

Sonic product innovation and development vice-president Scott Uehlein said: “The bold flavour combination of crispy fritos with mouth-watering chilli and melty cheese is both incredibly classic and unique at the same time.

“Adding the uniquely delicious and salty bite of fritos, chilli and cheese was something many had to hack menus to get, and now, people can order their faves in three crave-able ways right from their cars.”

The chilli pie and chilli cheese Jr. wrap are available for $0.99 and the chilli cheese Jr. burger is available for $1.99.

Earlier this month, Sonic expanded its menu with the launch of the quarter pound double stack cheeseburger.

Featuring two beef burgers, cheddar cheese and cheese sauce, the new offering will be available for $2.99 for a limited period of time.
