UK-based foodservice company SSP Group has announced a new contract with the Egyptian Airports Company to manage dining establishments in Terminal 1 of Hurghada International Airport.

The new contract will bring brands such as KFC, Costa Coffee, Camden Food Co, and Levito Pizza & Pasta to the airport.

They will complement the existing portfolio of SSP-operated brands at Hurghada International Airport, which includes Burger King, FloCafe, Coffee Lab, Ritazza and Upper Crust.

Egyptian Airports Company chairman Ahmed Mansour said: “I’d like to congratulate SSP on this success, and all of us at Hurghada look forward to continuing to work with our SSP colleagues on this new venture.

“We’re grateful to the SSP team for the impressive standards of their operations here in Egypt to date, and for their efforts in developing a compelling proposition as we go forward. We’re delighted to be working with such a prestigious international organisation.”

SSP Eastern Europe and the Middle East managing director George Antoniou said:  “Since we first began operating here in Egypt, our business has developed considerably.

“This new contract win is testament to our ability to deliver a high quality, innovative programme of food and beverage.

“Our understanding of the international and local travelling consumer means that we have created a mix of offers that really meets the needs of all passenger demographics at this important transport hub.”

Earlier this month, SSP Group signed an agreement to acquire Airport Retail Enterprises (ARE) in Australia for an undisclosed sum.

ARE is an airport food and beverage operator with annualised sales of A$200m ($130.5m) from 62 outlets across seven Australian airports.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of June 2024. The acquisition will see SSP Group adding a diverse portfolio of local, national, international and chef-inspired brands to its operations.
