Starbucks Coffee Company has expanded its partnership with the online food ordering platform DoorDash to increase its reach in the US.

Under the new partnership, Starbucks products will be delivered by DoorDash across select markets that will include Northern California, Texas, Georgia and Florida.

In the coming months, the two companies will expand the service to additional markets. All 50 states in the US are expected to be covered by March.

Starbucks digital experiences senior vice-president Brooke O’Berry said: “As customer behaviours evolve, we continue to innovate the Starbucks Experience to connect with them through meaningful and valuable digital experiences.

“Our partnership with DoorDash allows us to provide our customers with another convenient way to enjoy Starbucks wherever they are.

“Delivery continues to represent a significant growth opportunity for Starbucks, and we’re excited to reach more customers by partnering with DoorDash, a company known for their best-in-class service.”

The expanded delivery partnership builds on last year’s successful pilot in Atlanta, Houston and Sacramento, as well as the launch of the delivery service in additional markets, such as Seattle, Portland and New York City.

With the extended DoorDash partnership, the American coffee chain anticipates that its customers will have better and more convenient access to its offerings across the country.

DoorDash strategic partnerships head Sanjay Kotte said: “Our partnership with Starbucks connects even more neighbourhoods across the United States with their favourite beverages and bites.

“When you combine the exceptional quality of Starbucks handcrafted beverages and food with the logistics power and geographic scale of DoorDash, the result is extraordinary for coffee lovers nationwide.”
