Sustainable Restaurant Group (SRG), operator of Bamboo Sushi and QuickFish, has secured an undisclosed amount of funding to support expansion into new regional markets and commitment to sustainability efforts.
Led by Bain Capital Double Impact and Kitchen Fund, the investment will be used to open ten or more locations in markets including Seattle and San Francisco over the next two years.
Kitchen Fund invests in early stage restaurants including fast-casual concepts to assist their business growth globally.
Sustainable Restaurant Group founder and CEO Kristofor Lofgren said: “We’re excited to partner with Bain Capital Double Impact and Kitchen Fund at a crucial point in our growth trajectory, and at a time when the fishing industry is plagued by inefficient supply-chains and unhealthy farm-raised fish.
“With the benefit of Bain Capital Double Impact and Kitchen Fund’s impressive restaurant experience, we are well-positioned to achieve our goal of providing mindful customers with a premium sushi dining experience at a great value while doubling down on our advocacy programmes dedicated to sustainable fishing practices and supply chain transparency.”
Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, SRG operates restaurant concepts under Bamboo Sushi and QuickFish brands with five full-service locations in Portland and Denver.
Bamboo Sushi and quick service restaurant QuickFish are certified by the James Beard Foundation’s Smart Catch programme, the Marine Stewardship Council and the Green Restaurant Association.
Bain Capital Double Impact managing director Warren Valdmanis said: “We look forward to partnering with Sustainable Restaurant Group to support Bamboo Sushi and QuickFish’s high-potential for growth in new markets and to scale their vision of broader environmental impact.”
