Taco Bell has added new $1 items, the Triple Melt Burrito and Triple Melt Nachos, to its menu.

Both additions, which will be available at the US fast-food chain’s restaurants from 5 April, are made using seasoned beef, shredded three-cheese blend and nacho cheese with tortilla chips as toppings.

The Triple Melt Burrito is also available as a $5 box variant combined with cinnamon twists, Doritos Locos Taco and a medium drink.

The launch of the two items comes after the fast-food chain tested them in Cincinnati, Ohio, in September 2017.

“From innovative fan-favourites like the Beefy Crunch Burrito we continue to set the bar for what great food at a great value should be.”

Taco Bell chief brand officer Marisa Thalberg said: “Back in 2017 we boldly shared our commitment to roll out 20 new $1 items in 2018 and are thrilled to share we’re halfway there thanks to our latest menu additions launching this week.

“From innovative fan-favourites like the Beefy Crunch Burrito and dominating each day part by reimagining breakfast classics at the dollar price point, we continue to set the bar for what great food at a great value should be.”

Apart from these two offerings, the company is also testing two other $1 items: a Crispy Chicken Taco in Oklahoma City and the Beefy Crunch Burrito.

Starting today, Taco Bell will test the Beefy Crunch Burrito in 30 Chattanooga restaurants through to July this year, and will introduce the menu item nationwide in 2019.

Introduced last month as a breakfast item, the company is offering the Naked Egg Taco and the Breakfast Triple Melt Burrito as a combo on its menu for $3.49.
