US-based fast food chain Taco Bell has announced the launch of Cheesy Street Chalupas, a new menu item that pays homage to traditional street tacos.

Cheesy Street Chalupas are now available across the US for $5.49 for a limited time.

Cheesy Street Chalupas are offered in two street-sized servings per order, with onions, cilantro coriander and a choice of slow-roasted Cantina chicken or grilled marinated steak in chalupa shells with melted mozzarella and pepperjack cheeses, and jalapeño ranch sauce.

Taco Bell tested the new menu item in October 2023 before making it available nationwide.

To celebrate the launch of the new item, the brand is offering exclusive deals.

From 1 to 4 August 2024, customers can receive one free order of Cheesy Street Chalupas with delivery orders of $25 of more through the Taco Bell app.

In partnership with Revolution Carts, Taco Bell has donated 26 carts since 2022 and plans to donate 46 street-legal food carts by September 2024.

Taco Bell product innovation vice-president Luis Restrepo said: “The Chalupa has taken many delicious forms over the years, but with the Cheesy Street Chalupas, we set out to create a new flavour-rich way for fans to enjoy the beloved menu item.

“[It] adds a different flavour profile and is our playful nod to the street taco that we all know and love.”
