US restaurant chain Taco Cabana is launching new menu items, including Al Pastor Street Tacos, Tortas and loaded fries in Texas.

Testing will begin on 28 February 2024 with the rollout of Mexican dishes Al Pastor Street Tacos and Al Pastor Tortas at select Houston locations.

Al Pastor Street Tacos consists of three pork al pastor tacos topped with cilantro [coriander] and onion. The Torta is pork al pastor with refried beans, shredded lettuce and pico de gallo.

Taco Cabana’s recipe includes diced pork marinated in dried chillies and spices.

For its El Paso locations, Taco Cabana is rolling out Carne Asada Loaded Fries and Chili Cheese Fries.

The new Tex-Mex-inspired loaded fries will be available from 28 February 2024.

All items will be available while supplies last.

Taco Cabana president and chief operating officer Ulyses Camacho said: “We are excited about these new products and the new flavours we are bringing to our pantry. This is just a small glimpse into the innovation we are rolling out to the entire system later in the year.”

Earlier this month, Taco Cabana also announced further new limited-time items to coincide with the Lenten season and US National Margarita Day on 22 February.

Fish Tacos and Chilaquiles Bowls and a Margarita made with Big Red, a soda drink by Keurig Dr Pepper, will be available at participating Texas locations.
