Thai Airways International (THAI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives and Chachoengsao Province to develop and manage safe agricultural products for the airline’s catering.
As part of the agreement, the airline will source fresh and hygienic vegetables and fruits from Chachoengsao.
The national carrier will use these agricultural products as quality raw materials in in-flight meals that are served onboard THAI flights.
Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives permanent secretary Lertviroj Kowattana said this partnership creates more job opportunities for the farming community in Chachoengsao and the ability to produce ‘Plants, Vegetables, Number 8’ for consumer food hygiene that is guaranteed as ‘high-quality, fresh, clean, and safe’ for public consumption without any residue and while remaining environmentally friendly.
Kowattana also noted that due to the need for raw materials that are considered food safe, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives saw the benefits to enter a commercial advantageous cooperation with the agricultural community of Chachoengsao.
According to the company, vegetables and fruit sourced under the agreement are residue and chemical free, as well as enable the national carrier to maintain corporate social responsibility.
