Zoës Kitchen and American Airlines develop new menu for main cabin

US fast-casual restaurant group Zoës Kitchen has partnered with American Airlines to develop a food-for-sale onboard menu to main cabin customers.

US fast-casual restaurant group Zoës Kitchen has partnered with American Airlines to develop a food-for-sale onboard menu to main cabin customers.

The menu features items from Zoës restaurants such as the breakfast sandwich, the continental breakfast box, hummus duo, the Grüben and chicken wrap. It will be available on most domestic flights for customers from 1 December.

Zoës Kitchen head chef and culinary innovation vice-president Antonio Iocchi has designed the menu in collaboration with the airline.

“This collaboration with the expert chefs at Zoës provides an innovative, fresh approach to onboard offerings.”

American Airlines global marketing vice-president Janelle Anderson said: “Zoës’ mission to deliver goodness from the inside out and their ‘simple, tasty, fresh’ offerings made it an easy decision to partner with the fast-casual, healthy restaurant group.

“Our customers have asked for lighter tasty food choices. This collaboration with the expert chefs at Zoës provides an innovative, fresh approach to onboard offerings.”

Breakfast sandwich features turkey bacon, egg slices, tomato, baby arugula, waffle brioche bun and Calabrian pepper aioli, while the continental breakfast box contains a Belgian waffle, hazelnut spread and fresh berries.

The Grüben sandwich is made using sliced turkey, Manchego cheese, Mediterranean slaw and feta spread layered on marble wheat bread.

The chicken wrap contains mozzarella, roasted tomatoes, arugula and artichokes wrapped in grilled chicken.

Hummus duo is a blend of Kalamata olives and basil pesto hummus, served with pita bread, cucumber and carrot.

In addition to these options, the airline will offer its fruit and cheese plate, as well as its breakfast platter, to customers.

Both companies will collaboratively introduce additional menu items in main cabin and domestic first-class service next year.
