Australia-based pizza chain Domino’s Pizza Enterprises has named former McDonald’s executive Andrew Gregory as its next group CEO and managing director.

Gregory will assume the new responsibilities by 5 August, after completing his existing commitments.

He has more than three decades of experience in the quick service restaurant (QSR) sector, spanning franchised and multi-market operations, with a focus on execution, franchisee economics and measured expansion.

Gregory previously led McDonald’s Australia and New Zealand as managing director and CEO, and held the role of senior vice-president and chief support officer overseeing supply chain, operations and development in Japan.

Domino’s said Gregory’s appointment follows a “comprehensive global search process” and is intended to align the company’s long-term leadership with its strategic priorities.

Domino’s Pizza Enterprises executive chairman Jack Cowin said: “Following a period of transition, the board is pleased to appoint a global CEO with deep QSR experience and a strong understanding of franchised business models.

“Andrew is a highly regarded operator and leader, and we are confident he is well placed to lead Domino’s through our next phase of performance improvement and growth.”

Cowin will continue in his role as executive chairman during the handover period, working alongside Gregory to manage the leadership transition.

Cowin added: “This transition ensures continuity, stability and momentum for the business, while allowing Andrew sufficient time to engage with our markets, franchise partners and leadership teams.”

Last month, Domino’s Pizza Enterprises appointed Merrill Pereyra as the new CEO for Australia and New Zealand.
