A&W Food Services of Canada is set to expand Pret A Manger’s footprint in the country through a series of new outlets at major Canadian airports.

The brand's first airport site in Canada is due to begin operations this month at the international terminal of Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

Vancouver Airport Authority retail passenger experience director Ben Ma said: “At YVR, we're continually looking for opportunities to elevate our food and beverage offering and enhance the passenger experience.

“The arrival of Pret A Manger adds another globally recognised brand to our airport and is part of our broader strategy to provide travellers with more convenient and healthy choices throughout their journey."

Holding the exclusive rights to develop and operate the Pret A Manger brand in Canada, A&W intends to open additional units in airports nationwide.

According to the company, four new Pret locations at Canadian airports are planned this year.

A&W’s Pret Canada operations are overseen by managing director Paul Hughes. His responsibilities also include steering Pret’s broader Canadian development plans in both transit hubs and city locations.

Hughes said: "Airports are a natural fit for Pret. Travellers today are looking for food that is fresh, high quality, and fast — whether they're grabbing a coffee before an early flight or looking for a healthier meal option while in transit.

“Pret delivers that experience in a way that's convenient, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable. Canada represents an important growth opportunity for Pret. We're seeing strong consumer demand for fresh, high-quality food served quickly and conveniently.

“We're excited not only about our airport growth, but also about working with our franchise partners to expand Pret into more cities and transit locations across Canada in the years ahead."
