US-based fast food chain Bojangles has introduced two new BBQ versions of its chicken sandwich, featuring a creamy Coleslaw and customers’ choice of Bo’s sauces.

The new Southern-style menu items have been launched for a limited period.

The first version starts with the same classic Bo’s Chicken Sandwich, which is made using marinated buttermilk fried chicken breast, a secret mix of bold spices and thick-cut dill pickles between bakery buns.

The company has further enhanced this classic chicken sandwich by adding two different layers, one of which features a creamy Cole Slaw.

The second version allows customers to add their choice of Bo’s sauces, either sweet and smokey BBQ sauce or Carolina Gold sauce, which is a sweet and tangy mix of apple cider vinegar, yellow mustard and hints of smoke, molasses and tomato.

Bojangles menu and culinary innovation vice-president Chef Marshall Scarborough said: “Bojangles has already mastered the art of a juicy, hand-breaded chicken sandwich, so we decided it was time for a new challenge.

“Bringing together classic Southern flavours is what we do best and we have a feeling our guests will have a hard time picking their favourite.”

Customers can try the new items while dining at different Bojangles locations or through delivery and kerbside takeout from their nearest participating restaurants.

All orders for Bo’s Chicken BBQ and Carolina Gold Sandwiches can be placed through the Bojangles app, the DoorDash delivery platform, or the company’s website.

Later this month, Bojangles will launch a new campaign to highlight its new Southern-style sandwich versions. This campaign will be supported by NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr and multi-Platinum artist Lee Brice.
