CAVA, a US-based fast-casual restaurant chain specialising in Mediterranean cuisine, is set to add Chicken Shawarma to its menu.

From 8 September 2025, the new option will be available in chef-curated options or customisable pitas and bowls.

The Garlicky Chicken Shawarma Bowl is a street cart-inspired chicken and rice bowl, and the Chicken Shawarma Pita is made with tomato, onion, hummus and shredded romaine.

The brand describes Chicken Shawarma as a contemporary version of a traditional Middle Eastern dish. It features all-white meat chicken breasts marinated in a spice blend then stacked on a spit.

CAVA co-founder and chief concept officer Ted Xenohristos stated: “Our culinary philosophy is about balancing heritage, vibrant flavours and innovation.

“Chicken Shawarma is a delicious Mediterranean staple rooted in tradition, and we’ve crafted it to deliver the bold and delicious flavors that define the CAVA experience.”

Shawarma has been popular throughout the Mediterranean for many years and this new offering aims to familiarise more customers with the distinctive flavours of the region.

CAVA co-founder and CEO Brett Schulman stated: “We’re excited to bring guests our unique take on Chicken Shawarma, a classic dish from the Levant region of the Mediterranean.

“Introducing this new all-white-meat chicken breast option is a natural addition to our menu. It helps to deliver on our mission to bring heart, health and humanity to food while staying true to our Mediterranean roots.”

In October 2025, CAVA launched its new Garlic Ranch Pita Chips, marking the brand’s expansion into new flavours.
