India-based hospitality company Chrome Asia Hospitality has entered into the concept restaurant space with the launch of its new brand, Gigi, the Economic Times has reported.

The existing two-storey Gigi location in the Indian business capital Mumbai covers more than 6,000ft². It is said to be a passion project of its co-founders, Pawan Shahri, Dhaval Udeshi and Nikita Shahri.

The news agency quoted the brand’s co-founders as saying: “We have always aimed to expand our footprint beyond the threshold of conventional dining.

“We want to deliver more and more unique concepts that excite our customers and Gigi is our latest attempt at doing just that. The hospitality industry is one of the fastest-growing landscapes in India and there is a growing appetite for newer, better concepts.

“Gigi is a dining experience that cannot be paralleled. Its period cocktail bar with Asian influences and unique fusion cuisine is a celebration of two of the finest cultures out there.

“With this, we have just begun our journey with concept restaurants and we look forward to unveiling more in the next few months.”

The hospitality company plans to invest Rs350m ($4.2m) to scale up its restaurant brand Gigi and open 12 new outlets by 2025.

With its new restaurant concept, Chrome Asia Hospitality aims to offer its guests cuisines that are prepared using fresh local produce, seasonal seafood and exquisite cheeses from around the world.

It also intends to source items from homegrown brands from across India while combining flavours from Europe and Japan.
