Caravan’s new Grainhouse site will include a wrap-around terrace, a shopfront and a private hire events space.

July 05 2023

Caravan, a craft coffee and all-day dining brand is set to open its new flagship location in Covent Garden, London, by the end of this year.

The World Coffee Portal reported that the planned outlet will be the brand’s eighth and biggest location in the UK.

It will be situated at Grainhouse, a multi-purpose retail, leisure and office space that was bought by real estate firm Hines in March 2020.

Once launched, Caravan’s new Grainhouse restaurant will be the first food and beverage outlet at Hines’ European headquarters.

Grainhouse, which was used as a seed warehouse, now features 23,000ft² and 36,000 ft² of retail, leisure and office space.

The Caterer reported that the Caravan’s Grainhouse site will cover two floors. It will also include a wrap-around terrace, a shopfront, and a private hire events space known as Green Room.

Set to remain open throughout the day, the restaurant will offer various signature dishes, including jalapeno cornbread, crisp chilli salt tofu and steamed cod dumplings.

The restaurant will also serve small plates, pastries, pizza, cocktails and the brand’s speciality coffee items.

Caravan co-founder and CEO Laura Harper Hinton said: “We are thrilled to be heading to Covent Garden to share our passion for craft coffee, well-travelled food and memorable experiences in a new part of the city.

“Thirteen years after opening our first restaurant in Exmouth Market, we still strive to be a source of new, exciting flavours, fresh ideas and authentic, friendly experiences.”

In September 2022, Caravan managing director Jo Fleet revealed that the firm plans to expand its footprint beyond London. However, it has not yet settled on any sites for the expansion.
