North American workplace food company HUNGRY has acquired Canada-based office meal delivery provider hungerhub.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In a statement, Hungry said the transaction will push the combined business’s annual revenue above $110m and broaden its operational footprint across North America.

Hungry CEO Jeff Grass said: “Our vision has always extended beyond a single market.

“By bringing hungerhub into the platform, we are expanding our ability to deliver consistent workplace dining experiences across borders while continuing to scale with our enterprise customers."

Toronto-based hungerhub operates in more than ten Canadian markets.

The company connects employers with a curated network of local restaurants, offering daily meal delivery through a technology-enabled ordering platform.

hungerhub CEO Sari Abdo added: “Joining Hungry accelerates our mission to modernise the office meal experience while maintaining the quality our customers trust.”

Hungry provides enterprise workplaces with a range of food and beverage services, including catering, group ordering, live event dining, pantry programmes and micro-market solutions.

The workplace food company, which has more than 1,000 corporate clients, operates across 24 cities in the US.

The deal places the combined company among the larger workplace food platforms in North America, in a field that has traditionally been fragmented and served by local or regional operators with narrower service lines.

Hungry chief marketing officer Gary Batara said: “Work has outgrown traditional boundaries.

“This merger allows us to scale meaningful food experiences for organisations and people operating across cities and, now, countries."

Last year, Sodexo partnered with Hungry to improve foodservice options.
