Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based late-night bakery chain Insomnia Cookies has outlined plans to launch more than 75 new stores in 2026.
The rollout forms part of the company’s broader ambition to reach 1,800 locations worldwide by 2034.
Founded in a University of Pennsylvania dorm room in 2003, the business now runs sites across the US, Canada and the UK.
The latest expansion update was announced as the company passed a notable milestone with the opening of its 350th bakery globally.
Insomnia Cookies plans to mark the 350-store landmark with an opening event at its new Williamsburg, New York location on 22 November 2025.
The Williamsburg outlet becomes the brand’s third shop in Brooklyn and its 22nd site in New York.
In 2025, Insomnia Cookies has added 55 new bakeries to its estate, including a record 25 openings in the fourth quarter.
The company has also broadened its presence through new channels via partnerships, most prominently at Philadelphia International Airport and through collaborations with the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Insomnia Cookies CEO and founder Seth Berkowitz stated: "Over the past 22 years, we've built an incredible community of Insomniacs who share our love of warm, delicious cookies.
"As we continue expanding globally, our focus remains on delivering memorable experiences, deepening connections with our Insomniacs, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the late-night indulgence category to reach Insomniacs in an unparalleled way."
In June 2025, doughnut chain Krispy Kreme completed the sale of its remaining stake in Insomnia Cookies to the cookie company and certain shareholders.
The company received aggregate cash proceeds of $75m from the transaction, which will allow for debt reduction after covering transaction-related fees and expenses.
In July 2024, Krispy Kreme divested a majority ownership stake in Insomnia Cookies to investment companies Verlinvest and Mistral Equity Partners, valuing the enterprise at $350m.
