Craveworthy Brands has unveiled a national franchise programme for its US-based franchise concept Sigri Indian BBQ.

The initiative has resulted in a multi-unit agreement to expand Sigri into the Chicagoland region.

Initial franchise expansion will target the priority markets of Georgia, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Nevada and Texas.

The first Chicago-area sites will be locally owned and operated by entrepreneur Niraj Shah, with openings in Schaumburg and Naperville, Illinois in 2026.

Shah stated: "As a longtime food and beverage operator, I’ve always believed in the power of hospitality to create community.

“When I discovered Sigri, it felt like reconnecting with a beloved culture I am familiar – the flavours, the warmth, the tradition. Bringing that to Chicago, a city known for its diverse food culture, felt like the perfect next step in my journey.”

Established in 2015, Sigri focuses on North Indian barbecue flavours. Craveworthy Brands acquired the brand in 2024.

Sigri co-founder Utkarsh Yadiv stated: "Sigri was created to share a flavourful journey rooted in centuries of tradition and to feel like home.

“Niraj brings entrepreneurial heart and industry experience, making him the right steward for Sigri’s next chapter in Chicago. Together, we’re taking the art of North Indian barbecue and giving others the opportunity to discover it in their own backyard."

Craveworthy's backing will offer franchise partners access to operational assistance and a scaleable business model.

Shah continued: “I’m proud to be part of a brand that celebrates tradition while offering something entirely new to US diners.”
