Transportation company Ola Consumer has suspended its Ola Foods business, with the food-ordering option no longer visible on the company’s ride-hailing app, as reported by Moneycontrol.

The cloud-kitchen operation, which also been fulfilling orders via the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), is currently not taking orders on either platform.

Operations are temporarily paused and the company is re-evaluating plans and working on its business plan.

It is not yet known whether Ola intends to revive Ola Foods at a later date or withdraw from the food category permanently.

Ola Consumer has not responded to queries from the news portal on the development.

The move comes as the SoftBank-backed company reassesses businesses considered non-core as part of an ongoing restructuring exercise.

Industry executives quoted in the report state that the company has “paused operations” and placed most activities on hold.

Ola has made multiple forays into the food space since 2015.

It launched Ola Foods in 2019 as a cloud-kitchen initiative built around in-house brands, with deliveries handled through Ola’s own logistics network.

Its most recent push began in September 2023, when the Bengaluru-headquartered company joined ONDC to offer food delivery via its flagship ride-hailing application.

The service was extended to 100 cities in December 2024, and Ola has broadened its use of ONDC during 2025.

However, transaction volumes on the network has remained modest.

India’s online food delivery and cloud-kitchen market continues to be led by Swiggy and Zomato, alongside a growing number of ONDC-linked sellers.

The pause at Ola Foods comes as competition intensifies, including from rival ride-hailing player Rapido, which rolled out a separate food delivery app, Ownly, in August 2025 in selected areas.
