US-based quick-service restaurant brand Roy Rogers Restaurants has selected Qu as its technology partner to upgrade ordering and back-of-house systems across all locations.

The chain will move its ordering, kitchen execution, operational messaging and menu management onto Qu’s single, data-focused platform.

The system is built to process payments and transactions in a single environment and keep kitchen workflows running during network outages.

Additionally, the use of Qu's platform will enable centralised control of menus, pricing and configurations for both company-operated and franchised restaurants.

Qu added that the technology refresh is expected to have a direct impact on customer service. By tightening the flow of orders from the drive-through and front counter into the kitchen, the new platform is projected to speed up order handling by around 80% at peak times.

Roy Rogers will also roll out Qu Notify for store communications and Qu Flex for in-store kiosks.

These tools are intended to reduce kitchen complexity, simplify menu and promotion rollouts, and generate data for systemwide performance tracking.

Roy Rogers Restaurants marketing director John Giffin said: “We needed technology that supports how our restaurants actually operate day to day.

“As we build momentum with new openings and continued reinvestment across the system, it was important to put a modern foundation in place to improve reliability today while positioning us for expansion in the years ahead.”

Founded in 1968, Roy Rogers Restaurants currently operates 38 outlets in the US, comprising 22 company-owned and 16 franchised sites.

The brand has opened three new restaurants over the past six months.

It is also pursuing automation projects to support its growth plans for the next five years.
