US-based drive-in restaurant brand Sonic has announced the launch of its new $1.99 menu: a selection of a meal, a snack and a sweet treat.

Dubbed FUN.99, the menu features a Quarter Pound Double Cheeseburger, a Chili Cheese Coney, Queso Wraps, Small Tots and Sonic Shakes in a choice of 12 flavours.

The shakes will be offered in a 16-ounce size with choices such as strawberry, chocolate and OREO cheesecake.

Queso Wraps come in two varieties: Bacon Ranch Queso and Southwest Crunch Queso.

The Bacon Ranch Queso Wrap contains a crispy white meat tender, bacon, cheddar cheese, ranch and white queso in a warm flour tortilla.

The Southwest Crunch Queso Wrap contains a crispy white meat tender with Southwest sauce, tortilla strips, cheddar cheese and white queso in a soft flour tortilla.

Sonic stated that this value menu is "here to stay" and will be available all day. The initiative aligns with its new campaign LIVE FREE EAT SONIC, to offer a budget-friendly dining experience.

Customers ordering through the Sonic app can purchase drinks and slushes at half price and classic Sonic Cheeseburgers also at half price on Tuesday evenings, along with other monthly rewards and offers.

Sonic chief marketing officer Ryan Dickerson said: “Now more than ever, consumers are focused on affordable food options, but they shouldn’t have to settle for the same old, tired discounts or boring meals.

“At Sonic, we wanted to do something different – something fun – so we focused on variety, which is why we’re introducing the new $1.99 Menu, or what we like to call the FUN.99 Menu.

“The FUN.99 Menu is all about choice and fun. Whether you want any of our dozen shake flavours, a chili cheese coney or our iconic tots as a midday snack – it’s all there for just $1.99.”

In April 2024, Sonic announced the expansion of its dessert offerings with the introduction of the OREO Big Scoop Cheesecake Sundae and Blast for a limited time.
