Starbucks and its licensed operator Delosi have opened two more outlets in Peru, expanding its foothold in the country.

One is at the domestic arrivals area of Lima’s Jorge Chávez International Airport and the other is in the central Peruvian city of Huánuco.

The airport site is the third Starbucks at Jorge Chávez, joining locations in the domestic and international departures zones.

A fourth outlet is due to open shortly in the Peru Plaza mezzanine at Lima Airport.

The Huánuco store is situated in the city’s Real Plaza and has 18 staff members.

The Starbucks–Delosi network now extends to 13 Peruvian cities: Arequipa, Cajamarca, Chiclayo, Chimbote, Cusco, Huancayo, Huánuco, Ica, Iquitos, Juliaca, Lima, Piura and Trujillo.

Delosi and Starbucks operate more than 120 stores across 12 cities in Peru, directly employing 1,700 people.

The new locations were constructed using locally sourced materials and incorporate measures to lower their environmental impact, such as energy-efficiency features, water-saving installations and waste-management practices.

The interiors include murals reflecting local art and culture.

Starbucks now has more than 1,800 outlets across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The brand arrived in 2002 with openings in Puerto Rico and Mexico, and opened its first South American store in Lima, Peru in 2003.

It currently operates in 26 markets across the region and 89 internationally.

Starbucks Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia country manager Cristel Delgado stated: “We are very excited to open our first coffeehouse in Huánuco, a region that plays a key role in Peru’s coffee tradition and one with which we have been connected since our beginnings, through the coffee we serve every day in each of our cups.

“This opening represents a bridge between our coffee roots and the customers who today enjoy the Starbucks experience.”
