US restaurant operator White Castle has broadened its on-the-go footprint, with the addition of a new automated kiosk at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW).
The unit has been deployed in partnership with automated food kiosk supplier Just Baked and Evolvending, a company that runs automated dining outlets in travel locations.
Evolvending CEO Valentina Ellison said: “We’re excited to launch our exclusive partnership with White Castle at Southwest Florida International Airport.
“This location showcases the future of airport dining through its unique design and restaurant-quality food delivered through automation.”
Positioned in the remodelled terminal food court at RSW, the kiosk forms part of the airport’s shift towards a vending-led foodservice model aimed at handling high passenger throughput.
The machine stocks a focused line-up of White Castle retail Sliders.
Passengers travelling through the wider Fort Myers region can use the kiosk to buy the ready-to-eat beef and chicken Sliders.
The Fort Myers site adds to White Castle’s existing automated presence at Boston Logan International Airport. The company is preparing to introduce additional kiosks at other US airports.
White Castle retail marketing, innovation, and licensing director Sarah Paulson said: “Airports are all about speed, convenience and reliability, and this automated kiosk at RSW lets us deliver the White Castle experience in a world-class facility in a way that fits how people travel today.
“By combining automation with our iconic Sliders, thanks to our partnership with Just Baked and Evolvending, we’re meeting travellers where they are and rethinking what airport dining can look like.”
